1.  Gasoline Spill Near Dallas Texas

Remediation and containment efforts from a large gasoline spill near Dallas, Texas. Photographs taken on June 15, 2000 by Dr. Joseph E. Odencrantz, Water Resources Engineer. The spill occurred approximately two months prior and impacted local drinking water supplies. Tri-S Environmental provided consulting services to The City of Dallas Attorney's Office and Dallas Water Utilities.

2.  Gateway Center Dewatering Project, Los Angeles, California

Over thirty feet of contaminated groundwater was lowered over a ten-acre area adjacent to Union Station in Los Angeles for two years. The dewatering allowed construction of the largest subterranean parking structure in the Western United States and The Gateway Center Tower (40 stories). Dr. Joseph E. Odencrantz designed and managed the groundwater extraction system and treatment plant which was put together in less than three months. The ground water was contaminated with hydrogen sulfide, petroleum and chlorinated hydrocarbons and the treated effluent was discharged to the Los Angeles River. These black and white photographs of the treatment plant and construction site were taken in August of 1994 by Dr. Odencrantz.

Tri-S Environmental is pleased to announce that Dr. Odencrantz's expert testimony and report played a pivotal role in settling a case involving a catastrophic landslide in southern California. After the case had been pending for several years, Dr. Odencrantz was retained by counsel to assist in developing a successful and scientifically sound strategy to resolve the case. After an exhaustive review of the data, Dr. Odencrantz testified and delivered his report to the opposing parties. Almost immediately after Dr. Odencrantz's delivery of his opinions, the case settled for $26.5 million.

Below are groundwater and subsurface maps that were developed by Dr. Odencrantz to convey his opinions:

The following four maps and eight cross-sections were developed to better understand the complicated interaction of faults, geological units, shears and various types of heterogeneities in order to dissect the subsurface. The goal of our assignment was to determine the migration of groundwater in the subsurface and to examine the effects of rainfall and pumping on the water dynamics and subsidence. To learn more about this dewatering/subsidence/landslide project, please feel free to call our office at (949) 644-8602.
